I had saved up for 10 years to get a deposit, money to decorate to my own liking and to put aside 2 years mortgage payments into saving just in case I ever lost my job or something like that. I had a survey taken out on the house before I bought it and I was aware that some work needed to be done on the roof but that the work was fairly minimal which I was happy with. When I moved in I realised the roof needed to be done immediately as it was leaking into my kitchen so I called the roofing contractors and they came to have a look at it. In needed a completely new roof, it was to cost a 3^rd of what the house cost. Give me a break!

My kitchen is so old and terrible, and I truly despair when comparing it to those snazzy fitted kitchens you see in brochures. It needs a new EVERYTHING! The floor is old and once was white, I think. The cabinet shelves are starting to warp. The counter-top is so scratched up. The stove is actually quite interesting. Only one burner works at a time. But it's never the same burner. You have to turn all the burners on to see which one is working that particular day. And 350 degrees in the oven isn't necessarily 350 degrees. We have to have a thermometer inside the oven to see the real temperature. The dishwasher is actually somewhat new but it doesn't work well. It keeps turning off the sanitize cycle on its own so you have to watch it and keep pushing the button. And last but not least, the refrigerator. It works, I'll give it that. But it is not pretty!
